TT Veteran Ewen Haldane, 86, Dies in Motorcycle Accident
Tributes have been paid to a motorcycle racing veteran who has died in a bike crash at the age of 86.
Ewen Haldane, from Greenock, Inverclyde, who competed in 15 TT events, was killed in a road accident in Argyll and Bute on Sunday.
Mr Haldane was riding his black Honda motorcycle on the A82 near Luss when it collided with two cars just after 11am.
The owners of Ewen Haldane Motorcyles in Greenock, founded by the enthusiast, said in tribute: "Mr Haldane was a former TT racer and successful motorcycle dealer, serving Inverclyde and beyond's motorcycling community for many, many years.
"Mr Haldane will be greatly missed and our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this time.''
The veteran was a contemporary of motorbike racer Bob McIntyre, who became the first rider to complete a lap at an average speed of over 100mph in 1957.
He was also a keen follower of the Greenock Wanderers' rugby club, according to a biography on the Isle of Man TT website.
The A82 was temporarily shut after the crash involving a Range Rover and a Vauxhall Mokka.
Sergeant Archie McGuire, from Police Scotland, said: "I would continue to urge anyone who witnessed this incident or saw a black Honda motorcycle travelling along the A82 around 11am yesterday to come forward.
"Anyone with information can contact police on 101.''
