A woman will stand trial next year accused of abandoning a child in Rutherglen after he fell out of his pram.

Carrie Hamilton, 25, allegedly wilfully neglected the one-year-old boy on a public footpath in in the town on May 24, 2020.

Court papers state Hamilton exposed the boy in a manner likely to cause him unnecessary suffering or injury to health.

It is alleged that Hamilton was intoxicated through drink or drugs.

The charge claims that she repeatedly lost control of the pram with the boy within causing him to fall to the ground.

Allegations further state that Hamilton thereafter abandoned the child in a public place by repeatedly falling asleep and being unable to care for the boy.

Hamilton, of Glasgow's Castlemilk, faces two further charges of possession of cannabis and street Valium at the same place and date.

A trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court was postponed and a new date has been fixed for April next year.
