Train Windscreen Cracked After Brick Chucked From Stirling Bridge

Published 13th Apr 2015

British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for information after the windscreen of a freight train was cracked by what is believed to have been a brick thrown from a bridge in the Stirling area on Saturday, 11 April 2015. Shortly after 10.30pm the driver of the 19.41 Aberdeen to Grangemouth service reported seeing a number of people on the footbridge over the railway at Adamson Place in Cornton and then the windscreen being struck by the object. The driver was uninjured but left extremely shaken by the incident. Constable Mark Taylor, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for anyone who can assist to contact him. He added: “This was a mindless and reckless act of vandalism and fortunately no-one was injured. However, the consequences could have been so much worse and anyone who was in the area and witnessed the stupid activity should contact BTP as a matter of urgency."
