A woman has been sexually assaulted while sleeping on a train from East Kilbride to Glasgow.

The incident happened on Saturday 3 February when a woman in her thirties travelling on the 10.28pm service was approached by a man she did not know.

He kissed and touched her inappropriately, before sexually assaulting her.

The woman had been asleep on the train prior to the assault and passengers may not have been aware that she was being assaulted.

The attack lasted for some time and may have been witnessed by other passengers in that carriage.

The woman got off the train at Glasgow Central and was spoken to by a group of passengers who had been on the train and helped her towards a connecting service.

The offender is a white man in his twenties, approximately 5ft 10ins and of slim build. He had dark hair and was wearing a blue Stone Island top, black jeans and dark Adidas-style trainers.

Detectives are keen to speak with anyone who was on board this train and may have seen what happened or felt concerned by what they saw.

Likewise, if you know anyone matching the description of the man, please get in touch.
