It's feared more people could be hurt on a Bothwell road, if something isn't done to control traffic in the area.

A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured after being knocked down on Main Street last week.

It happened on Monday 5 April at around 2.30pm.

Local minister Reverend Ian Majcher, from Bothwell Parish Church, has written a letter to local councillors and MPs to ask for the road to be made safer.

Speaking to Clyde New, he said: "We live in a place that I know that my children are going to be safe and sound.

"But at the moment, we live very close to the main road and cars come streaming through there.

"Next time it could be an elderly lady crossing the road, it could be that a car hits the side walk and hits a small child in a pram and a mother or a father.

"That family do have the right to know that the traffic can be controlled and can be slowed down.

"And there wont be another family who actually maybe gets a knock at the door saying this time it's not just your boy's in hospital but your child actually hasn't made it."

Police are looking for information about what happened, after issuing an appeal about a car involved last week.
