A two year-old girl is being treated in hospital for serious injures after being hit by a lorry in the Springburn area of Glasgow.

A two year-old girl is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after being hit by a lorry in the Springburn area of Glasgow.

It happened on Springburn Way around 10.50am this morning and the child has been taken to the city's Royal Hospital for Children.

A Police Spokesperson said: "Police are currently in attendance following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a 2-year-old girl on Springburn Way, Glasgow.

"The collision happened at around 10:50am this morning. The child has been taken to Royal Hospital for Children with serious injuries.

"Officers are carrying out enquiries at the scene and nearby Carleston Street is temporarily closed in the meantime.

"Anyone with further information or who witnessed the collision is asked to call 101, quoting incident 1166 of 11 October."
