£50k of tools and 800 litres of diesel stolen from Airdrie landfill site

Police are calling it a 'high value theft' and are appealing for information

Tools worth an estimated £50,000 and 800 litres of diesel are among some of the things which have been stolen from a North Lanarkshire landfill site.

Police say the high-value theft at Greengairs site in Airdrie happened sometime between 2pm on Sunday 22 September and 7am on Monday 23 September.

Around 300 metres of copper cable was also stolen.

Officers are asking for anyone who saw something suspicious to get in touch with them.

Detective Constable Craig Hartley said: “Our enquiries into this significant theft are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual at the time to come forward.

“If you saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area, including any suspicious vehicles, please contact police immediately.

“Additionally, we encourage anyone with dash-cam footage or other relevant information to reach out, as it could be crucial to our investigation.”
