Three people have been charged and others fined, after police broke up a gathering in Glasgow city centre.

Officers were called to York Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The city is currently under Level 3 coronavirus restrictions.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to a report of an illegal gathering at a property in York Street, Glasgow, around 3.10 am on Sunday, 13 December, 2020.

“Officers gave advice, the gathering was dispersed and a number of Fixed Penalty Notices issued.

"Three people were charged in connection with the incident and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

"We continue to ask people to take personal responsibility to do the right thing and remember the purpose of these measures is to aid the collective effort to protect the NHS and save lives by preventing the virus from spreading.

"Our officers will continue to engage with the public, explain the legislation and guidance, and encourage compliance. We will use enforcement as a last resort where there is a clear breach of the legislation."
