Three people have been arrested over the alleged attempted murder of two police officers in a hit-and-run in Glasgow.

A male and female officer were seriously injured as they responded to a call in Banner Drive in the Knightswood area of the city on Sunday night.

On Friday morning, Police Scotland said a 28-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident while officers pursued other suspects.

Two other men, aged 24 and 30, have now also been arrested in Glasgow.

All three are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

A force spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a further two men, aged 24 and 30, have been arrested in the Glasgow area and are presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident.

"A report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."

The female officer suffered serious injuries and was treated in intensive care for a time after the incident.

Police Scotland thanked the public for messages of support on behalf of the officers, including some from as far afield as the US.
