Police are hunting thieves who broke into a Glasgow foodbank and stole thousands of pounds worth of vouchers, cash and clothing.

The break in at the Greater Maryhill Foodbank happened at the weekend.

Volunteers had raised around £1,000 for Chelsea Somerville who suffered a broken leg last year.

The money was to help the schoolgirl and her family have a holiday.

Her friend Sophie Brannan was killed in the accident in November 2014.

Julie Webster who runs the charity says she can't believe how cruel the person responsible is.

The First Minister Nicila Sturgeon says its a despicable crime.
