Firefighters had to help 10 people out of a block of flats after a blaze broke out.

The alarm was raised at 2.03am on Wednesday about the incident at Craigmillar Road, Glasgow.

A property on the first floor had gone up in flames, forcing neighbouring flats to be evacuated.

Residents were escorted out of the building and were looked after by paramedics.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Operations control immediately mobilised six appliances, which used powerful water jets to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remain at the scene.''

People were treated for minor smoke inhalation but no-one required hospital treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said the cause of the fire is unknown
