14 year old among those arrested in Troon beach carnage
Around 6,000 people, mostly youngsters, flocked to the shore.
Volunteers have turned out to help clean up Troon beach after yesterday's sunshine brought more than 6-thousand revellers to the shore many of them drinking underage and some involved in fights.
Police Scotland say ten people were arrested, the youngest of them was 14.
The clean-up was arranged on the "Friends of Troon beach" Facebook page by locals appalled at the state it was left in.
Any abandoned towels are being donated to the Fisherman's Mission, a charity helping fishermen and their families.
It’s understood a Facebook event was circulated to organise the gathering - which more than 6,000 people, mostly youngsters, turned out for.
There were reports of kids as young as 12 years-old joining in and drinking alcohol.
Others at the beach reported mass brawls breaking out in the group and bottles thrown at police on horseback who were trying to bring the situation under control.
Around 25 officers were deployed.
Ayrshire Police Chief Superintendent Paul Main said: “More than 6,000 arrived at the beach, some already under the influence of alcohol.
“They seized significant quantities of alcohol and more than 10 arrests have been made.
“While the majority came to enjoy the sunshine, a number engaged in anti-social behaviour.
“Officers intervened in incidents of disorder.
