Two teens who punched and kicked a Russian football fan on the head in front of his wife have avoided jail.
46 year-old Andriy Myachykov was attacked by 18 year-old Deen Ramzan and 19 year-old Hisham Chegra on Glasgow’s Ashton Lane last July.
The pair pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Myachykov and acting in a threatening and abusive manner.
Ramzan was 17-years-old at the time of the attack.
Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC ordered the pair to pay Mr Myachykov a total of £750 in compensation.
Chegra must also perform 270 hours unpaid work and Ramzan
250 hours.
The court heard Mr Myachykov and his wife had been out in their Russian football jerseys to watch their side take on Spain in last year’s World Cup.
Mr Myachykov was in Ashton Lane when Chegra and Ramzan laughed at him.
Prosecutor Harry Findlay said: “They had a conversation which was good humoured at first, but it changed.
“Chegra punched him on the right side of his face and shortly after Ramzan punched him and he stumbled back.
“When he was on the ground Chegra reappeared and kicked him on the face.”
Chegra, of Cardonald, and Ramzan, of Finnieston, fled the scene.
Mr Myachykov went to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received stitches for an eye wound.
The thugs were arrested at their homes the following week by police.
Sheriff Johnston said: “You kicked a man on the head when he was down.
“Many people in these courts have seen deaths from that.
“It’s good fortune that he made a full recovery.
