Teenagers 'permanently scarred' after Uddingston stabbing

Two teenagers have been stabbed by a hooded man in South Lanarkshire.

Police said the victims, aged 16 and 17, were attacked following an altercation'' with the man, who was wearing dark clothes and had his hood up.

The assault took place on Second Avenue, Birkenshaw, Uddingston, at around 11.50pm on Friday and the attacker then fled in a silver car towards Old Edinburgh Road, Viewpark.

Both teenagers were taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment to stab wounds.

The 16-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition and the 17-year-old has been released. The suspect is white, aged between 30 and 40 and around 5ft 10in, of medium build with a gaunt appearance.

Police are appealing for information. Detective Christopher Smith said: The motive for this attack is unknown and two young men will be left permanently scarred as a result of these assaults.

I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have seen or heard the altercation to contact us.
