Teenager Threatened With Knife During Attempted Robbery

British Transport Police is appealing for information after a 19-year-old man from East Kilbride was threatened with robbery by a man who brandished a knife at Pollokshields East station last night Wednesday, 3 December 2014.

Shortly after 6.30pm, the victim was approached by a man, aged in his 20s, who grabbed him and demanded he hand over valuables. The teenager, who was uninjured, ran from the station and contacted the police.

The man suspected of the attack, who fled empty-handed, is described as being about 5’10” in height, slim build with dark skin and brown eyes. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, grey trousers and white training shoes. He had a black scarf covering his face.

CCTV from the station and the surrounding area will be reviewed as part of the inquiry.

Detective Constable Andrew Egan, the BTP officer in charge of the inquiry, is appealing for witnesses to come forward. He said: “This was a frightening incident and I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Pollokshields East station or Albert Drive and who may have seen what happened or provide information regarding the identity of the man responsible to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
