A police inquiry is under way after a teenager was the victim of a serious sexual assault in an Argyll and Bute town.

A police inquiry is under way after a teenager was the victim of a serious sexual assault in an Argyll and Bute town.

The 19-year-old woman is said to have been raped at Helensburgh pier in the early hours of Monday.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We are investigating following a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman at Helensburgh pier in the early hours of Monday, May 16.''
