Autistic teen mugged in the street in Paisley

The 13 year old's mobile phone was stolen by two men on Saturday evening

Detectives are appealing for information after a 13 year old with autism was assaulted and robbed in Paisley on Saturday 16 December 2017.

Around 1715 hours the boy was walking along Rowan Street when he was approached by two men who assaulted him and robbed him of his mobile phone.

The suspects then made their way along Rowan Street, heading in the direction of Neilston Road.

The victim returned home and police were contacted.

He did not require medical treatment.

The first suspect is described as white male, 5ft 8 in height, between 18 and 25 years old, of skinny build and gaunt appearance, dark hair and unshaven. He was wearing a navy hooded top.

The second suspect is described as white male, 5ft 8 in height, between 18 and 25 years old, of heavy build and gaunt appearance. He was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable David McIntosh from Paisley CID said: "This was a despicable attack on an innocent teenager who had simply been making his way home and extensive enquiries are underway to trace the individuals involved.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Rowan Street around the time of the incident a may have noticed two men matching the above descriptions, or anything suspicious at all, to please get in touch.
