Teenage driver killed after Larkhall crash

A teenage driver's died in hospital five days after a crash in Larkhall at the weekend.

19 year old Calvin McIntosh's white BMW collided head on with the VW Polo on the A71 on Saturday afternoon around 5pm.

He sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital and was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He died of his injuries on Wednesday 15 February 2017.

The two women from the Volkswagen Polo, the driver, a 58 year-old woman and her 24 year-old daughter, who was a front seat passenger, were taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital.

The 58 year-old woman suffered leg and back injuries and the 24 year-old woman sustained internal injuries. They remain in hospital and medical staff describe their condition as stable.

Sergeant Joe McGuckien, Motherwell Trunk Road Policing Group, is appealing for information. He said: “Our enquiries are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding this road traffic collision, which has resulted in the death of a 19 year-old man.

“A number of passing motorists have come forward. We are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have information that will assist officers with their enquiries to contact Motherwell Trunk Roads Policing Group via 101.”
