Teenage Boy Assaulted At Train Station

Published 6th Oct 2015

A teenage boy was robbed and brutally assaulted by an older couple as he left a train at station in Newton Mearns late on Saturday night.

The 15-year-old alighted from the Glasgow Central to Neilston service at Patterton at around 11.30pm with a group of friends and was then punched from behind and stamped on after falling to the ground.

The teenager sustained facial injuries and an injury to his eye – although he did not require hospital treatment - and his mobile phone was taken from him. Those believed to be responsible are described as being a man in woman in their 40s.

British Transport Police are appealing to the public for information. Detective Constable Ryan Tierney said:

“This would have been a busy service and I am aware there was an altercation between the group of younger boys and a group of older people shortly before the assault took place at Patterton.

"Anyone who was on the train and has information regarding those involved who remained on until it arrived at Neilston at 11.40pm is urged to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
