Teen Jailed After Knifepoint Theft Of Choc Eggs
16 year old Liam Maloney locked up for more than 2 years after robbing a Scotmid store in Bearsden
A teenager who held up a shop in Bearsden at knifepoint only to escape with a handful of chocolate eggs has been locked up for more than two years. 16 year old Liam Maloney stormed into the Scotmid store on Spey Road brandishing a large blade. Maloney - then aged just 14 - repeatedly demanded alcohol from a shocked shop assistant during the raid on January 15 last year. However, the woman refused and eventually pressed a panic alarm. Prosecutor Ian Wallace told the High Court in Glasgow: "The accused then grabbed a handful of cream eggs from a display before quickly leaving the shop." Maloney, of the city's Drumchapel, was back at court after pleading guilty to a charge of assault and robbery. Judge Lord Burns locked him up for two years and three months. Maloney looked ashen faced as he was lead to the cells.
His mum left the courtroom crying hysterically.
