Teen in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car in Cumbernauld

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Cumbernauld yesterday evening.

The teen was crossing Central Way just before 7pm when he was struck by a Land Rover.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the boy was taken to University Hospital Monklands.

His condition is currently stable.

Sergeant Craig Beaver from Motherwell Road Policing Unit said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area last night who may have witnessed the incident take place.

"Officers have been checking CCTV, however we would also appeal to anyone who was driving in the area last night who may have dash-cam footage that could help us, to come forward."
