Teen found dead in Motherwell car park

A teenager has died after he was found seriously injured in a car park near Motherwell Civic Centre this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9am on Sunday July 12, but the teen was pronounced dead a short time later.

The area was cordoned off to the public and his next of kin have been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm a 17-year-old man was found seriously injured in a car park near Motherwell Civic Centre shortly after 9.30am on Sunday, 12 July.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His next of kin are aware.

"His death is being treated as unexplained. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
