Police are appealing for information following a serious road crash between Easterhouse and Gartcosh on Saturday 16 July 2016.

Around 1645 hours on Saturday afternoon, a blue Ford Fiesta, with four male occupants, was travelling north on Gartloch Road, between Easterhouse and Gartcosh, Glasgow, when it appears that it lost control and collided with a tree.

The 17 year old front seat passenger was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital suffering from serious head injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as critical.

The driver, also aged 17, is currently detained in Monklands District General Hospital. His condition is described by staff as stable.

The 19 year old rear seat passenger sustained injuries to his foot and he is being treated within the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The 16 year old rear seat passenger was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and has since been released.

Constable Gordon Bremner, Divisional Road Policing Department, said today:

“Although this is quite a rural road, at this time of the afternoon I am sure there would have been other cars on the road.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the car prior to the crash. If you have any information that you feel may assist the police investigation, then please contact the Divisional Road Policing Department in Glasgow via 101.”
