Teenage girl arrested after school bus shooting
A 15-year-old girl has been arrested after allegedly shooting five pupils with a BB gun and assaulting a police officer on a school bus in South Lanarkshire last Thursday.
No-one was injured in the incident that is believed to have happened as the bus left the school to take pupils home on August 24.
The girl has since been excluded from school and is to be reported to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration.
The teen was arrested in connection with an alleged breach of the peace, common assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
Carole McKenzie, head of education at South Lanarkshire Council, said: 'We can confirm that, following an incident, parents were informed the following day by letter and the matter is now the subject of a police investigation.'
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: 'We can confirm that a 15-year-old girl was arrested and is the subject of a report to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration in connection with an alleged breach of the peace, common assault, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer in an incident which occurred on board a school bus on August 24.'
