Teen charged with murder after death of man in Renfrewshire

A teenager has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man in Renfrewshire.

Police were called to a disturbance at Johnstone High Street on Wednesday and the 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been named as John Winters, from the town.

A 17-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday charged with murder.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, made no plea and was released on bail.

A report will also be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
