Helensburgh schoolboys reported after teacher shot by BB Gun

Two pupils have been reported to a children's panel after a teacher was allegedly shot with a BB gun in a school corridor.

The incident happened at Hermitage Academy, Helensburgh, on Monday and the teacher was not seriously injured, Police Scotland said.

Two boys, aged 13 and 15, have been referred to the Early and Effective Interventions Co-ordinator - a process designed to find the most appropriate intervention to improve outcomes for children and young people whilst reducing the likelihood of them reoffending''.

A council spokeswoman said the incident had been thoroughly investigated'' and disciplinary action taken against those involved.

She added: We have hard-working staff and pupils who are together achieving often award-winning success.

Their wellbeing is paramount and we take any action required to ensure this.''

The school is said to have more than 1,300 pupils.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: Two male pupils, aged 13 and 15, are the subject of a report to the Early and Effective Interventions Co-ordinator in connection with the incident.''
