Taxi driver stabbed during gang attack in Glasgow
A taxi driver’s been stabbed after he was attacked by a gang of men and women in the east end of Glasgow.

A taxi driver’s been stabbed after he was attacked by a gang of men and women in the east end of Glasgow.
The incident took place at around 2am on Saturday after the driver had picked two men and a women in Cambuslang.
When they arrived at Altyre Street in the Tollcross area the man in the passenger seat produced a knife.
Concerned for his safety, the taxi driver got out of the car, at which point a group of men and woman appeared from a property in Altyre Street.
The group surrounded the man and began assaulting and stabbing him before making their way back inside the house.
Police don’t yet know whether the occupants of the taxi were involved in the attack.
The victim got back into his taxi and drove a short distance away where he stopped and called an ambulance.
He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to a stab wound. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
The first male passenger in the taxi is described as short, in his late 20’s and spoke with a Scottish accent.
The second male passenger spoke with a Glasgow accent
The female passenger is described as around 5ft4 and of slim build.
Detectives are treating the incident as assault with intent to rob.
Detective Inspector Tom McKean said: “Why a group of people would target an innocent man in this brutal fashion is beyond me and we are currently working to establish the motive for this horrendous incident.
“This type of behaviour is disgraceful and simply will not be tolerated and our officers will do everything they can to find the people responsible for this despicable crime.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in Altyre Street or the surrounding area in the early hours of this morning, who may have witnessed a disturbance or saw anything suspicious, to get in touch.
