T in the Park improvements promised for 2016
Geoff Ellis says the second year at Strathallan Castle will go better
T in the Park bosses are telling festival goers they’ve learned their lesson from last years’ travel chaos.
Festival Director Geoff Ellis promised fans they have nothing to worry about: “This year we are confident we can deliver a fantastic and successful event.
“We’ve increased the arena space by 25%, we’ve taken on more land for the camp site so people have more space and we will relocate some of the stages.
“Separating the cars and buses completely with a direct route into an on-site bus station which will be very well managed by a new management team”
2015 was the first time TITP moved from Balado to its new home at Strathallan Castle.
The move left bosses plagued by problems from the start with a wildlife charity worried about endangering protected Ospreys that had set up home on the new site.
Organisers were soon stuck in the mud again when some fans who shelled out hundreds of pounds for tickets missed opening acts as they were stranded in traffic mayhem.
Of those who made it into the venue, hundreds ended up caught in a crowd crush.
The chaos continued into the following night because exhausted revellers struggled to get back out of the park as traffic ground to a standstill.
Perth and Kinross Council received the largest number of post event complaints during its 18 year history in the area.
Kicking off on Friday 8th July, the event will see some of the biggest names in music perform over the weekend.
The Stone Roses will headline the opening night and Calvin Harris will make his 8th appearance at his country’s biggest festival.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers will return for the first time in a decade when they perform on the last night.
