Urgent advice is being given to people in Renfrewshire after a number of suspected drugs-related deaths in recent weeks.

It's reported there have been four such tragedies in the Paisley area in the last month - possibly related to what's being called 'fake Valium'

Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership says people should be very cautious of unidentified tablets or drugs that seem stronger than usual.

Chair of the PAG, Dr Daniel Carter, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, NHSGGC said:

“Although the cause of these deaths has not yet been established, it is important that we act now."

"We would like to remind everyone who uses illicit drugs and their friends and families of the measures they can take to minimise the risk of drug deaths or overdoses."

WPlease share this important message, be extremely cautious and follow advice."

"Every death from drugs is a tragedy and I send my condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one.”

"There are a number of ways people who use drugs can engage with health and social care services in order to access treatment and support."

"These services are available to people regardless of which drugs they are using. In Renfrewshire, they can contact the Renfrewshire Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service – 0300 300 1199."
