Suspect cleared of Govan sword attack

A suspect was cleared of trying to kill a man with a sword.

Peter McDermott had been accused of attacking James Bow in Glasgow's Govan in April this year.

River City star Iain Robertson told jurors how he came to the aid of the alleged victim who stated: 'I am holding my intestines in my hand here.'.

McDermott (35) had denied attempted murder – claiming anything that occurred was “100 per cent” to protect his older brother from attack.

He was found not guilty of the charge following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

As he left the dock, McDermott gave a thumbs-up to jurors and said: 'Thank you very much.'
