Support is being offered to pupils at a Glasgow school following the death of a primary one pupil.

Parents at St Ninian's Primary School in Knightswood received a letter last night informing them of the sudden passing of the five year old.

The cause of death is not yet known.

A spokesperson for NHS GGC said: " We are aware of the death of a child at the Royal Hospital for Children on Saturday, 17 December and are thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time.

"Tests are being carried out to establish the cause of death and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
