Glasgow Subway suspended after 'visually impaired' man falls onto tracks

A man, who's believed to be visually impaired, has been taken to hospital with a serious injury after falling onto the subway track at Bridge Street station this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at 12.53pm this afternoon following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

The ambulance service attended, and a man was taken to hospital with a serious injury. Officers remained at the scene for several hours but both circles of the subway have since reopened.

A guide dog was picked up by Scottish SPCA following the incident.

Despite being extremely distressed, the man's dog is in good health and has now been passed onto Guide Dogs UK.
