Staff celebrate 30 years of the Garage Nightclub in Glasgow
Prince played a last-minute set inside the iconic venue back in 1995.
The Garage Nightclub in Glasgow is celebrating thirty years of being the cornerstone of the night time industry across the city with an extra special party tonight.
The venue has played host to countless superstars over the years including Oasis, Coldplay, One Direction and Example.
Owner Donald MacLeod told Clyde 1 one of his favourite gigs is when Prince performed a set back in 1995.
He said: "It was booked in the same afternoon.
"We had no production, no guarantee he would turn up and then we had to sell it out.
"Back in those days we could only rely on newspapers and radio to spread the word.
"Radio Clyde started mentioning he was coming to drum up excitement and we had more than 1,000 people queue up to see him."
There will be a whole year of celebrations throughout 2024 to mark this milestone including special concerts, comedy shows and drinks promotions.
Donald added: "This place evolves with the times and the staff love it just as much as I do.
"We try to be with the game as much as possible without being too radical.
"My ethos is about having fun and welcoming everyone inside no matter how old they are."
