A teenage girl has died after falling ill at a flat on Springburn's Fernbank Street.

16 year old Chelsea Bruce collapsed in the early hours of Sunday morning and was rushed to the Royal Infirmary in Glasgow where she died shortly after arriving.

Police are investigating whether drugs were involved in her death.

In a statement her family have called her an, 'incredibly kind, loving and generous girl who had her whole life ahead of her'.

Two boys aged 16 and 18 were also taken to hospital - we understand they have now been released.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At 2.30am on Sunday July 7 police and emergency services were called to reports a 16-year-old girl had taken unwell and collapsed at a flat in Ferbank Street, Springburn.

"She was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she died a short time later.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course, to establish the cause of her death, which at the moment police are not treating as suspicious.

"Enquiries are continuing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
