A man who helped move the body of a murder bid victim is behind bars.

46 year old Brian Gough witnessed the brutal attack of David Coyle by thug Stuart Robertson.

A judge heard how Robertson continued battering the 46 year-old even after he was knocked out.

The assault – sparked after Mr Coyle made a comment to a woman the pair knew – occurred in Glasgow's Springburn in June 2018.

A witness heard someone say: “You can't leave him lying there.”

Gough, Robertson and another man then dragged the stricken victim away and dumped him at a nearby path.

The High Court in Glasgow was told Mr Coyle's head could be heard “banging” off steps as he was pulled along.

Mr Coyle was eventually rushed to hospital after shocked residents dialled 999.

He suffered swelling on the brain. The victim was only able to leave a rehab unit in Wishaw, Lanarkshire earlier this year, but needs continuing support.

Robertson (38) was locked up last year after he pled guilty to attempted murder.

Gough also faced the same charge at the hearing today/yesterday.

But, prosecutors accepted his not guilty plea.

Gough, also of Springburn, instead admitted to a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by helping move Mr Coyle's body.

Lady Stacey told his lawyer Kevin Cassidy: “I am minded to remand him in custody.”

Gough was locked up meantime as sentencing was deferred for reports until next month.
