Spelling blunder in council advert for English teacher
Typo and missing copy spotted in advert for a new member of staff in North Ayrshire.
A council has advertised for an English teacher and misspelled "English" in the advert.
North Ayrshire Council's advert for a "Teacher Of Enlgish" says candidates should have a "knowledge and understanding of literacy."
But it contains sixty six mistakes including misspelling of the subject they want the applicants to teach and 65 others.
Whole sections of the ad - posted on Scottish employment website s1jobs.com - are also missing commas and full stops.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “An error, in the form of mis-typing the word English, appeared on the myjobscotland portal for a very short period of time on Friday before the mistake was spotted and immediately changed.
“Unfortunately, it appears that S1 jobs lifted the original advert at this time.
“Within the myjobscotland website all our adverts feature headings, sub-headings and bullet points to make them easy to understand for potential applicants.
“S1 jobs have not taken into account our formatting which makes the text in their advert look incorrect.
“While we have no control of what S1 jobs put on their website, we will be speaking to them to make sure the advert is amended as soon as possible and to ensure there are no further formatting issues.”
