A review will be published today into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Troon mum.

Sharon Greenop was murdered by her sister, Lynette Greenop, back in November 2016. It’s thought her body lay undiscovered for weeks until neighbours began reporting a bad smell coming from her house.

In May 2018, Lynette was convicted of killing her and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Before Sharon’s death, the 46 year-old received a community care package from social work services within the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Now a “significant case review” has been carried out to consider social work’s involvement with Sharon and to identify whether or not there were lessons to be learned about how to better protect adults at risk.

The findings of the review will be presented by the independent Chair of the South Ayrshire Adult Protection Committee, Professor Paul Martin CBE, on Thursday 24th April 2019.
