Six people rescued and teen arrested after Coatbridge flat fire

The blaze broke out in a top floor flat on Monday afternoon

Six people are recovering after being rescued from a fire in a flat near Coatbridge town centre.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the incident in the top floor flat on Coats Street at around 1.29pm on Monday July 1.

A 17 year old has been arrested in connection with the incident, while the six people rescued have been released.

SFRS remain in attendance at the scene of the blaze

A Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) spokesperson said: “We dispatched multiple resources to the scene, including Special Operations Response Teams (SORT) and a trauma team.

“Six patients were treated and released at scene.”

SFRS mobilised 14 appliances, including specialist and height vehicles.

They remain on the scene and a joint investigation with Police Scotland will take place in due course.
