13,000 Celtic fans packed the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last night to watch a concert featuring Sir Rod Stewart to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Celtic’s Lisbon Lions, the first British team to win the European Cup.

Susan Boyle and the Bay City Rollers also performed at the gig hosted by actress Elaine C Smith.

She told the audience it was the “perfect night” to remember one of the “greatest football stories ever told” before leading a minute’s applause in tribute to the victims of the Manchester terror attack.

“We want them to know, in that other great football and industrial city, we stand with them in their grief," she said.

Sir Rod Stewart wore a green and white suit as he sang hits including I Don’t Wanna Talk About It, You’re In My Heart and You Wear It Well.

He told the crowd: “This is one of the biggest occasions of my life. I’ve sung for Her Majesty the Queen at the Commonwealth Games but this tops the lot.”
