Passengers faced major disruption to ScotRail services to and from Glasgow Queen Street during this morning's rush hour due to a signalling fault at Cowlairs.

Additional staff were on the ground to provide customers with advice and assistance at Glasgow Queen Street, Croy, Cumbernauld, Falkirk High, Falkirk Grahamston, and Stirling.

The delays were called by a computer problem with the signalling system, and once it was fixed, manual checks had to be carried out.

Scotrail says the problem has now been resolved, and any residual should clear up around midday.

It has apologised to affected customers.
