A total of seven people have been arrested after a series of warrants were executed at six properties in Greenock, as part of a targeted operation to tackle the drugs trade.

On the morning of Friday, 24 February, 2023, officers attended addresses on Ann Street, South Street, Wellington Street, Brachelston Street, Nicolson Street and Drumfrochar Road.

Five men – aged 17, 17, 20, 39 and 55 – and a 44-year-old woman – have been arrested in connection with drugs offences. Whilst a further 39-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant. All will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A quantity of drugs and cash was recovered from across the properties and further enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Riddell said: “Today demonstrates our commitment to tackling the illegal supply of drugs and apprehending individuals involved in serious and organised crime across our community.

“This day of action has been the culmination of investigatory work over a number of months.

“We rely on the public to build our intelligence on these issues and I would encourage anyone to report any concerns or suspicious activity to the Police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.
