'Serious' Bus Crash In Ayrshire

A number of people have been injured in a crash involving a bus and a car at a roundabout.

At least nine people were on the Stagecoach bus which collided with a car at 10.10am on the Hunterston roundabout on the A78 in North Ayrshire, Police Scotland said.

One person is thought to have been in the car. It is not yet clear how many people have been hurt, but any injured have been taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Crosshouse Hospital.

The A78 has been closed between the Hunterston roundabout and Clydeport roundabout while police carry out investigations at the scene.

It is thought some of those involved in the incident may have serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: At 10.10am a Stagecoach bus and a car collided near Hunterston roundabout on the A78.

At least nine persons were on the bus and one person in the car.

Any injured people have been taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital or to Crosshouse Hospital. Inquiries are continuing.''

A spokesman for Stagecoach West Scotland said:

We can confirm that a car was in collision with one of our vehicles operating the 585 service near Largs.

Our first thoughts are with the people who have been involved in the incident. The safety of our passengers and staff is our highest priority and we are assisting the police fully with their investigation into the circumstances.''
