Armed police and helicopter called to serious assault in Motherwell

A man has been taken to hospital after being seriously injured in an assault, which involved a bladed weapon, in Motherwell.

It happened on McClurg Court at around 6.10pm on Friday, 8th of May.

The disturbance took place outside a block of flats – the 35-year-old suffered a serious injury to his hand and was taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

Officers were joined by the dog unit, firearms unit and police helicopter.

They traced a 30-year-old man on Airbles Farm Road nearby – who was taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment.

He has been arrested in connection.

Detective Constable Jacqui McCann, of Wishaw CID, said: “We're appealing to anyone who witnessed this or has any information relating to this incident to contact us”
