Detectives are appealing for information following the serious assault of a man in Airdrie.

Around 12.40pm on Sunday, 26 May, 2024, police received a report of a man having been attacked by two men at a retail park in the Gartlea Road area of the town.

Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Enquiries so far have established that the suspects got into a dark-coloured Audi which left in the direction of Graham Street toward Ballies Roundabout.

Detective Sergeant David Duers said: "We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident, including searching through CCTV.

"The incident happened in broad daylight in a busy shopping area, so a number of people will have witnessed what happened.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attack, or who have any information that could assist with our enquiries, to please get in touch.
