Police are searching for a missing woman in Glasgow.

37-year-old Lorraine Kirkwood was last seen around 3.30pm in the Cowgate area of Kirkintilloch yesterday.

She left work to make her way home, however she failed to return and her family is growing increasingly concerned.

Lorraine is white, around 5 ft. 4 inches in height, a slim build and light brown, collar-length hair. She was wearing a purple dress, a gold/tan coloured, knee-length puffa jacket, black tights and black shoes. She was carrying a purple handbag.

Police say it extremely out of character for her to go missing and not contact her family and concern is mounting for her safety and well-being.

Officers have been reviewing CCTV images to identify and locate Lorraine but attempts to trace her have so far proved unsuccessful.

Sergeant Graeme Burn said: “Lorraine’s family just want her home safe and well. We have received information on possible sightings of Lorraine and officers are in the process of checking those sightings out. However until we have traced Lorraine, I am appealing to members of the public to look out for her. If you have any information about Lorraine or her whereabouts then please do get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Kirkintilloch police office on the non-emergency number, 101.
