Scottish Water dealing with ongoing major sewage incident in East Kilbride
Scottish Water is on site and dealing with what appears to be a collapsed water pipe.
Scottish Water teams are dealing with an ongoing water issue in East Kilbride.
Staff are dealing with what appears to be a burst sewage pipe which has impacted the nearby Kittoch Water near to the National Museum of Rural Life.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We are working as quickly and as safely as we can to rectify the issue.
"Mitigation measures have been put in place to help reduce any environmental impact and we continue to liaise with The Scottish Environment Protection Agency.”
A spokesperson for SEPA said: "SEPA are investigating an ongoing significant sewage pollution incident on the Kittoch Water, East Kilbride.
"The result of a partial blockage in the sewer network, we have required Scottish Water to take urgent action.
"Temporary measures are expected to be in place tomorrow (Wednesday 18th) to stop the discharge."
