Scottish shipbuilding boost as £97 million ferry contract begins at Ferguson's ship yard
Work is to begin on two of the largest ships constructed on the Clyde in more than a decade today (Tuesday).
A steel cutting ceremony will formally mark the start of the building of two 100-metre Highland ferries that will be used on the Clyde and Hebrides ferry network.
The large scale project will secure 150 jobs across the Port Glasgow and Inverclyde area.
Ferguson Marine Engineering won the £97million contract to design, construct and launch the vessels which are planned for Hebridean crossings and the Ardrossan to Brodick service.
