The number of arrests made in relation to disorder which marred the end of the Scottish Cup final has now risen to 50.

Police investigating the trouble at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Saturday May 21 arrested a further seven people on Thursday.

Hibernian supporters flooded the pitch after the Edinburgh side's dramatic 3-2 win, while Rangers fans also made it past stewards and on to the turf before mounted officers restored order.

In the latest police action, officers visited a number of addresses in the Glasgow, Ayrshire, Edinburgh and Livingston areas, arresting seven men aged 19 to 49 for alleged assaults and disorder.

They are being held in police custody and are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later this week.

Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham, who is leading the investigation, said: "Today's operation sends a clear message to those involved in the violence and disorder that occurred on May 21.

"You may think your behaviour has gone unnoticed, but I can assure you that our officers remain committed to identifying and arresting the perpetrators.

"I can guarantee you that there will be more arrests as part of this investigation, and if you were involved we could very well be knocking on your door next time.

"Information from members of the public continues to be vital to this investigation and I would ask anyone who can assist with our inquiries to contact us.''
