Scottish artists donate pieces for childrens charities
the works will be auctioned at the annual St Patrick's Charity Ball in Glasgow
Leading Scottish artists Andy Scott, Alasdair Gray, Muriel Barclay and John Lowrie Morrison OBE have donated rare pieces of their work to help raise funds for three independent Scottish children’s charities.
The works have a combined value of almost £20,000 adn will be auctioned at the 14th annual St Patrick’s Charity Ball in Glasgow next month.
All proceeds being donated to the The Moira Anderson Foundation, a National Charity dedicated to supporting those affected by childhood sexual abuse, It’s Good 2 Give, a Scottish charity which to date has raised over £1.2m for local young people with cancer and their families and Samuel’s Smile, set up by Glasgow teenager Samuel Bell to offer young people with serious illnesses the chance to savour memories they will never forget.
The annual event, which over the years has raised £950,000 for local charities, is organised by a group of Irish born, Scottish based business leaders.
Commenting on this year’s event, Chairman Denis MacCann says: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Andy Scott, Alisdair Gray, Muriel Barclay and John Lowrie Morrison in offering us these exclusive works of art which I’m sure will generate a lot of interest on the night. Each one of these charities provides an invaluable service to young people in Scotland and we are hoping to achieve a huge amount for them. On the evening we hope to raise £50,000 which would break the £1,000,000 mark in our fundraising efforts to date.”
