Disabled woman fighting for life after van knocks her off mobility scooter

An elderly woman’s fighting for life after she was knocked off her mobility scooter in Glasgow yesterday.

The 65-year-old was struck by a white Renault Trafic van on Cumberland Street near its junction with Caledonia Road around 2.30pm

Emergency services scrambles to the scene and the rider of the mobility scooter was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured.

The road was closed and re-opened around 6.30pm.

Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing with anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

“In addition, if anyone who was in the area at the time and has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please get in touch.”
